ONE MORE THING ON MY PLATE
Some of you already know and some don't but I have decided to take over as the Agency Manager of group 2-08 of the Wausau Adult Special Olympics. So last night I was sitting in the orientation meeting and the lady asked me what brought me to decide to take on this endeavor. I smiled and said well I was thinking that a full time teaching job, coaching the school volleyball team, and having a nine month old baby and planning for another one just wasn't enough on my plate so I though I should add just one more thing. After the meeting I got home and was watching Keagen sleeping in his bed I realized that I do have a lot on my plate right now but I am so lucky to have the life I have. Helping out with Special Olympics holds a special place in my heart and the lady asked if I help because I have a family member in the group. I said no and guess I felt truly blessed that Keagen was born as healthy as he is. I guess I do it because of the joy the athletes feel and the unending love they always show. Someone last week asked me if I ever feel like Keagen shouldn't be around "people like that." I simply asked "Like what?? Human" I do want Keagen to be around people like that because I want him to grow up accepting people for who they are and that not everyone is a cookie cutter description of what people are suppose to be like. I have never had any doubt about Keagen going with me when I am volunteering at any special needs activity nor will I ever because he will forever be around people that are different from him and I want him to grow up and be accepting of everyone. Anyway so this blog started out as a how crazy my life is at this time and ended as a people being accepting of others rant but anyway that's newest endeavor.
